REF Part 1
Aug 27th, 2013 by Tim Watts

Now trying to figure out a database which will record project primary live site URIs, secondary pure aliases amd not where the access log files are for the primaries. It will drive Nagios tests too…

Tidied up the database so that we have a consistent list of projects and virtual servers.

Next is to rationalise how to store data for the primary URL(s) or a project and for each one, possible HTTP VHOST aliases (host parts that server identical content or redirect to the main URL).

ahnet2 rebooted due to failure

Backups failed
Aug 1st, 2013 by Tim Watts

Miner, the server that lives in Drury Lane, suffered a software failure and none of last night’s backs completed.

After rebooting both miner and the backup controller (vmbackup), backups seem to be running OK. Monitoring the progress.

Looks OK now – 2 sets to complete, all other sets did re-run correctly.

Need to practise a “disaster recovery” scenario where the vmbackup server has to be recreated from scratch. Veeam Backup stores a copy of its database on minder, the backup repository in Drury Lane, so “by the book” (well PDF) it looks straightforward.

Update: All backups run OK – this is fixed…
